Daily Social Media Graphics

Day 4- Public Health Screening

Public Health Screening
Public health screening for genetic conditions include: newborn screening, population screening, non-invasive prenatal screening, expanded carrier screening
Newborn screening includes: blood test or heel stick, hearing screening, pulse oximetry
Population screening includes: hereditary breast and ovarian cancer, lynch syndrome, familial hypercholesterolemia
Noninvasive prenatal Screening (NIPS): A screen that examines that risk of a fetus having certain genetic conditions by taking a sample of blood from the pregnant individual
Expanded Carrier Screening: A type of genetic screening that can tell you whether you carry a gene for certain genetic conditions.
